Join Pat Welle and two other Friends’ hiking guides to walk Porter Point Loop around the Refuge headquarters. The trail begins in a serene cedar swamp and climbs gradually on former logging roads to a view of south Willapa Bay. We'll descend through an older cedar forest, returning along a restored section of South Bay with a good possibility of viewing birds and wildlife in this tidal area.
Considered Moderate hiking conditions, mostly on forest roads with a short single-track section. Length is 2.4 miles, approximately 200’ elevation gain.
Bring water, bug repellent, sun hat, sunscreen, hiking poles if desired.
