Activities
The Friends of Willapa National Wildlife Refuge offers several programs throughout the calendar year. From plant hikes on the Refuge to eco-tours highlighting art walks within the Refuge boundaries, the Friends offers learning and fun educational experiences regarding wildlife and habitat on Willapa Refuge.
Calendar - Our calendar of events keeps you abreast of the events, meetings, and volunteer opportunities available through the Friends group.
Eco-tours - The Friends of Willapa NWR offer several eco-tours of Willapa Refuge throughout the year, focusing on the wildlife and habitat of the Refuge and its surroundings. Free to members; a nominal fee to non-members.
Hikes - Friends members who specialize in native plants and birds, plus public artwork on the Refuge, often offer their volunteer time to lead a hike or tour of the areas open to the public.
Workshops - We also provide occasional workshops with subject experts on wildlife photography, birding basics, and ongoing habitat restoration projects on Willapa Refuge.
Scholarships - The Friends of Willapa NWR sponsor two $1000 scholarships to deserving high school seniors pursuing careers in fish and wildlife management, environmental education, conservation, and related fields.
Education - The Friends' environmental education programs range from pre-schoolers, elementary school students, high school students and the adult population.
